2026-2027 Chapel Theme: Jesus, the Great I AM

Jesus, the Great I AM' is the 2026-2027 chapel theme. Throughout the year, we will learn about the seven “I AM” statements of Jesus found in the Gospel of John.

We will begin the year by looking at the significance of the name “I AM” and how it connects the Old and New Testaments. In Exodus 3:14, God reveals Himself to Moses, saying, “I AM WHO I AM.” God then tells Moses to say to the Israelites, “I AM has sent me to you.” Later, in John 8:58, Jesus makes a powerful statement about His own identity: “'Very truly I tell you,' Jesus answered, 'before Abraham was born, I AM.'”

We will study the following "I Am" statements: I AM the Bread of Life, I AM the Door for the Sheep, I AM the Light of the World, I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life, I AM the Good Shepherd, I AM the Resurrection and the Life, and I AM the True Vine. We will discover how Jesus’ “I AM” statements show that He is the same God who revealed Himself to Moses and how each statement points us to who Jesus is and His purpose for dwelling on earth with us.
